How to Stay Organized With Your Budget Planner
Hi friends!
Let’s talk about something I’m very passionate about: actually using your budget planner. 😂
Buying a budget planner is a great first step, but the planner itself isn’t going to change your finances. The real difference comes from sitting down, using it consistently, and creating a routine that works for you.
And please don’t feel like your planner needs to be perfectly neat or beautifully decorated.
Mine gets used.
I write in it. I highlight things. I use sticky notes. I make changes. Sometimes things get crossed out. That’s okay!
Your budget planner is a working tool, and today I want to share some simple ways you can use yours to stay organized and feel more in control of your money.
1. Start With Your Financial Goals
Before you start filling in all the numbers, ask yourself:
What am I trying to accomplish?
Maybe you want to:
Save your first emergency fund.
Pay down debt.
Stop living paycheck to paycheck.
Get ahead on your bills.
Start using cash envelopes.
Prepare for upcoming expenses.
Save for something special.
Or maybe you simply want to understand where your money is going every month.
Write your goals down.
There is something powerful about taking a goal out of your head and putting it on paper.
And remember, you don't need ten goals at once. Start with one or two things that are important to you right now.
2. Know What Money Is Coming In
Before you can decide where your money is going, you need to know what's coming in.
Write down your expected income for the month.
