Financial Friday: Celebrating Your Budgeting Wins & Planning Ahead for the Holidays
One of my favorite things about doing Financial Friday Lives is getting the opportunity to sit down with you, talk about budgeting, share what’s happening in the shop, and most importantly—hear about your wins.
During this week’s Live, I shared some customer success stories, and I wanted to talk about them here too because I think sometimes we forget to celebrate how far we’ve come.
Budgeting isn’t only about numbers on a page.
It’s about the changes those numbers can make in your everyday life.
Your Success Stories Matter
I absolutely love when customers share their budgeting progress with me.
Maybe you’ve finally started using a budget consistently.
Maybe you paid something off.
Maybe you were able to cover an unexpected expense without immediately reaching for a credit card.
Maybe you started saving for something months ahead instead of worrying about how you were going to pay for it when the time came.
Those things matter.
And your win doesn’t have to look like someone else’s win.
If you saved your first $100, celebrate it. If you stayed within your grocery budget this week, celebrate it. If you simply sat down and looked at your finances when you normally would have avoided them—that counts too.
Progress is progress.
Budgeting Is About Creating Better Habits
This is one of the biggest reasons I continue talking about budgeting basics.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. You don't need the perfect income, the perfect budget, or the perfect financial situation.
You start where you are.
Then you keep showing up.
Over time, those small habits begin to add up. And when I hear your success stories, that's what I see—people making small changes and sticking with them long enough to see a difference.
That is something worth celebrating.
Planning Ahead for the Holidays
Another thing I shared during the Live was our Holiday Binder.
The holidays are a perfect example of why planning ahead can make such a difference.
Christmas comes every year. Birthdays come every year. Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day and all of those family celebrations aren't really unexpected expenses—we know they're coming.
But if we wait until the last minute to pay for everything, they can certainly feel unexpected.
That's why I love the idea of saving a little at a time.
You don't necessarily have to put away a huge amount of money. Even setting aside $3 or $5 every payday gives you somewhere to start.
The goal isn't perfection. The goal is to begin preparing before the expense arrives.
That's Why I Created the Holiday Binder
Our Holiday Binder was designed to give you one dedicated place to organize savings for the celebrations that happen throughout the year.
And I really want to emphasize throughout the year, because this isn't only a Christmas binder.
There are holidays, birthdays, family celebrations and special occasions happening all year long.
Instead of scrambling every time something comes up, you can gradually set money aside and know that you've already started preparing for it.
That's the kind of planning that can take some of the financial pressure out of occasions that are supposed to be enjoyable.
Your Budget Should Help You Prepare for Real Life
That's really what I want you to take away from this week's Financial Friday.
A budget isn't there just to tell you what you can't spend.
It's a tool that can help you prepare for the things that matter to you.
And that's why hearing your success stories means so much to me. Every time one of you tells me that you've saved money, paid something off, become more organized, or simply feel more confident handling your finances, it reminds me why I started sharing this journey in the first place.
Keep going.
Your progress doesn't have to happen overnight.
Small steps still move you forward.
